Idalia Del Carmen
Idalia, age 40, went to school up until the sixth grade. Due to her parents’ financial problems, she was not able to continue her studies. Her husband is a farmer, and he is a salesperson at a business. Also, two of her sibling’s children live with them. They are in the sixth and eighth grades. She takes care of them because their mother works. This helps to cover the household expenses. Idalia only has two children, and they are grown.

Idalia devotes herself to the household chores. In her free time she helps her husband with the farming. He was born close to a ranch where they grew a lot of corn. At the age of ten he started with the adventure in the fields with his father. It was with them that she learned this business activity.

Nevertheless, there are times when her sibling’s children do not go to school, and she devotes herself to sales with her husband in order to be able to contribute more to the household income.

Idalia will use the loan to pay medical expenses for an operation that her husband had. She will also buy supplies (fertilizer, insecticides, and fungicides) for 7,000 square meters of corn. She hopes to have good harvests and better income in order to provide her family with an adequate dwelling and to be able to pay her loan.

Idalia’s dreams and goals are first, for her husband to recover, and then, for her crops to do well. Lastly, she would like to have a small business. The loan will be a big help to Idalia because this way she will be able to take good care of her crops. Income will be better, and she will manage to pay off the loan.

Idalia de 40 años de edad, estudio hasta 6º grado, ya que por problemas económicos de sus padres no pudo seguir estudiando, ella esta acompañada , su esposo se dedica a la agricultura y presta servicio como vendedor en una comercial. También, con ellos conviven dos sobrinos los cuales están estudiando 6º y 8º grado y elle los cuida, porque la mamá delos niños, trabaja la cual le ayuda a cubrir los gastos del hogar, Idalia solo tiene dos hijos mayores de edad.

Idalia, se dedica a los quehaceres del hogar y en los ratos libre le ayuda a su espeso en la agricultura, puesto que el nació cerca de una hacienda donde se cultivaba mucho maíz y desde la edad de 10 años, inicio con la aventura en los campos agrícolas, junto a su padre, fue con ellos que aprendió esta actividad. Sin embargo, hay temporadas en que los sobrinos no estudian y ella se dedica a las venta con su esposo, para poder aportar mas a los ingresos económicos del hogar.


Idalia invertirá el crédito, en pagar unos gastos médicos que adquirió de una operación de su esposo y tanbien en la compra de insumos ( abono, insecticidas y fungicidas )para 7,000 metros cuadrados de maíz ,el cual espera tener buenas cosechas y mejores ingresos para ofrecerles una estancia adecuada, para su familia y poder abonarle a su crédito.


Los sueños y metas que quisiera lograr Idalia son: primero que su esposo se recupere luego y a la vez, que le vaya bien en el cultivo y por ultimo tener un pequeño negocio . El préstamo sera de mucha ayuda, para Idalia, porque así, podrá beneficiar bien sus cultivos, y los ingresos podrán ser mejores , así mismo lograra, tener de donde cancelar el crédito.

This loan is part of a CrediCampo project to help rural farmers living in extreme poverty plant basic grains to feed their families. Excess product is sold on the local market. These loans are smaller than the typical loans offered by this field partner, and guarantee requirements are also reduced. Individuals who receive this type of loan also get access to technical assistance, information on good environmental practices and increased access to farm inputs like fertilizer. This is considered a high risk loan due to the population and loan purpose, and CrediCampo is one of the very few institutions in El Salvador willing to working with these farmers.
