A mother of five children, Sreyoun is 40 years old and makes a living via rice farming in Takeo Province. To assist her in earning more income to support this large household, her husband works as a paid worker in Thailand.

Including this loan, Sreyoun is a third-time borrower with VisionFund (Kiva’s partner). The past loans, which she has repaid back with success, have helped her to pay the education costs for her one remaining daughter until the tertiary level. However, it is getting to be quite a burden to cover the school fees for her daughter.

Hence, she decided to take an education loan with VisionFund (Kiva's partner). She hopes that she can support her daughter to achieve her dream of pursuing a bachelor's degree with a major in accounting.

About VisionFund Cambodia

VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.

Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
