Jean, age 31, is happy tending her little store. She is married with three kids. The store is her means of earning a living to support her family. Fortunately, her store is located in a populous neighborhood, so she makes promising daily sales. Jean keeps on running the store well even though there is increased competition from other stores. Jean believes that with PMPC's support, as one family they will sustain and beat the competition.
Jean has reached her first year being a member to Paglaum MPC.
She has applied for a loan of PHP 6,000 for the store. Expanding her inventory will mean additional income.
She has confidence that she can maintain the label of member in good standing. She is a hardworking mother, and wishes to sustain the store and from there provide a good education for her children.
About Paglaum Multi-Purpose Cooperative
Paglaum Multi-Purpose Cooperative (PMPC) was founded in 1992 by the beneficiaries, parents and staff of the Paglaum Community Development Foundation to address economic and livelihood activities for sustainability. The organization operates in the northwestern provinces of Mindanao and Visayas.
In the local vernacular, “paglaum” means “hope.” The initial foundation is dedicated to child development through a holistic approach. The goal is to build self-reliance and expand opportunity so the poorest of the poor can help themselves.
