Zahra is a 52-year-old Lebanese widowed woman living with her four children. After her husband’s death, the tragedy, Zahra took the responsibility of taking care of her children and providing them with good living standards. So she started to work as a tailor since 2008 and has her own shop where she performs her task efficiently to always satisfy her customers. And today, Zahra is applying for a loan from Kiva partner Vitas s.a.l to purchase tailoring tools such as needles, bottoms, and textiles. In that way, she will improve her operation by serving more customers and therefore will earn higher income, thus will enhance her family’s way of living.
Due to political and social challenges in Lebanon, personally identifiable attributes entrepreneurs may have been altered to protect their privacy (i.e., blurring portions of the borrower's picture, not indicating a name and location, etc.). Vitas appreciates Kiva lenders' understanding of these challenges and encourages them to continue their support for Lebanon's borrowers.
