Paulina is married and has seven children between the ages of 10 and 27. All of them are in school, the older ones in university. Paulina's job is selling food and she has a grocery store. Her business began when she lived in Ambato, where her husband used to pay for everything as he was the one with work. He used to be a health advocate, but he didn't earn enough, so Paulina began taking candy to the local high school. By working hard she began to increase sales and to prepare lunches for the teachers--in this way her business got going.

Paulina is asking for a loan of 1000 soles to buy more merchandise such as meat and vegetables to stock her store and small cafe. She is making progress, but one of her children is developmentally challenged and needs special care. She is sure that she will succeed.

Leoncia is married and has five children. She has a knitting business making socks, gloves, and woollen hats. Leoncia says that her husband used to be a male chauvenist and didn't like his wife working. She had to do her knitting, hide the items, and then sell them. Sometimes she exchanged them for sugar or vegetables. Now she manages her income with the help of loans. She buys wool and patterns and continues her knitting.
She is asking for a loan of 200 soles which will help her with the business. Her dream is to open her own textile company.

Emilia is married and has six children. She has her own business selling coca leaves and she also does weaving which she sells during the week. She is asking for a loan of 1000 soles which she will use to stock her business. She hopes to save enough to build her own house, open a grocery store which will help to pay for the education of her children, and have her children in professional jobs.
