Saroeun is 54 years old and blessed with four children. Nowadays, only three children are in school, one of whom is studying at a local university. She has been involved in the current business for ages. Saroeun, who has been with VisionFund (Kiva’s partner) for three cycles including this loan, has repaid back her past loan wisely, and it has enabled her to improve her lifestyle better than before and keep her kids in school.

However, education cost is quite challenging for one of her kids at the university level. To overcome this challenge, she applied for a new loan in order to cover the school fees for her son who prefers to pursue a bachelor degree in Electronics Engineering. She hopes her son will have a specialized skill so he can obtain a good job after graduation.

It is disbursed to the borrower in annual installments.

About VisionFund Cambodia

VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.

Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
