Korm is 33 years old and married. He has three children to support; one is too young for schooling and two are in school. To earn a living, he does rice farming and works for others for a fee.
Including this loan, he is a sixth-time borrower with VisionFund (Kiva’s partner). The positive impact of his past loans enabled him to improve his lifestyle in a gradual pace.
For this cycle, he is seeking 4,000,000 KHR in order to buy fertilizer, pay for labor cost, as well as buy insecticide for his crop. He hopes that he can gain triple yield better than before.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
