Living in a rural village of the Thmor Koul district, Thy is 41 years old and married with three children. All of his children are still in school. The main sources of his family’s income are rice farming and catching fish. He has been in this business for 14 years to make a living. He is able to earn about US $12 per day to meet the family’s need.
Thy is just with VisionFund this cycle. He is applying for a loan to buy seeds and fertilizers for his farmland. He will also use a portion of the loan to spend on gasoline for his water pump to carry water into the rice field. He hopes to make more income so as to make a living better and keep his children in school.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
