Buenaventura is 62 years old. She is a widow and has two children. She lives in Mitimos, Rizal, Zamboanga del Norte, Philippines. Buenaventura has engaged in the sewing business for eight years and earns a monthly income of 3,500 (PHP). Now she has requested a new loan to purchase various raw materials to use for sewing. Buenaventura has been a CUMI member of Paglaum MPC since 2005. She is really striving to meet their daily needs especially now that she is alone raising her two children, one in grade school and one is in high school.
About Paglaum Multi-Purpose Cooperative
Paglaum Multi-Purpose Cooperative (PMPC) was founded in 1992 by the beneficiaries, parents and staff of the Paglaum Community Development Foundation to address economic and livelihood activities for sustainability. The organization operates in the northwestern provinces of Mindanao and Visayas.
In the local vernacular, “paglaum” means “hope.” The initial foundation is dedicated to child development through a holistic approach. The goal is to build self-reliance and expand opportunity so the poorest of the poor can help themselves.
