Jose Luis
José Luis lives in the District of Satélite in the city of El Alto. He is married and has three children. His entire family lives at the house of one of his relatives. They live in a small area that consists of four bedrooms, a kitchen, a bathroom, and a dining room.

José Luis only completed school through the elementary level. He provides transportation services using an automobile that he bought with a very small amount of money. The loan he is requesting will be used to pay the registration fee for his automobile as well as for vehicle maintenance. This is his only source of income.

José Luis solo estudió hasta el nivel primario. Se dedica al transporte de pasajeros usando un automóvil que compró hace muy poco. El préstamo que solicita lo utilizará en la regularización de la compra del automóvil y en el mantenimiento del mismo, pues es su única fuente de ingresos.

About IMPRO

IMPRO is a small non-profit organization that has been offering micro credit to the working poor in the Bolivian cities of La Paz and El Alto since 1995. IMPRO’s goal is to fight poverty by offering loans to small business owners who cannot access credit through the regular banking system due to a lack of guarantees or collateral.

To ensure that everyone has access to credit, IMPRO maintains a low interest rate by minimizing operational costs. IMPRO’s partnership with Kiva, which began in 2007, has allowed IMPRO to expand its services while maintaining these low interest rates.
