Luisa Fernanda
Luisa is a young fashion designer of only 24 years of age who for want of employment opportunities couldn't continue working in her field. Some time ago she had the opportunity to attend a conference for a well known international nutritional product company. She saw the opportunity for a profitable business as people today pay more attention to their health to look and feel better. So she decided to sell these goods with the intention of generating income to help support her household.

Little by little she has gained knowledge and her clientele has grown which allowed her to open her own nutrition club. Which has had good results and has been well received in the municipality where she lives as it is the only one there. Also she can count on her family who use the products and also sells them.

Her entrepreneurial spirit, drive and energy have motivated her to request a loan with which she will buy stock wholesale (shakes, malts, vitamins, dietary supplements, etc.) and supply her business with enough to satisfy the demand for products and necessities of her customers. This will bring about an increase in sales and the profit that that generates. Also she can be more competitive in the market, making her business more profitable.

Luisa dreams of sustaining her business, and to continue to offer her services as a nutritional adviser which will permit her to receive more revenue to improve her quality of life and well-being.

Important Information

This loan is structured on Kiva as a bullet loan, which means a single payment is required at the end of the loan term. By Colombian law, Kiva's partner Interactuar is required to offer borrowers loans with a variable interest rate that fluctuates with the market rate. Because fixed monthly payments are applied first to interest and then to principal, Interactuar is unable to predict upfront what portion of each repayment would go towards the loan principal. This creates a challenge with Kiva's system, which doesn't allow for unpredictable principal payments, and can result in some Interactuar clients appearing falsely delinquent. To remedy this, the loan has an end-of-term repayment plan on Kiva, but the borrower will continue scheduled monthly repayments to Interactuar, who will then pass along the principal amount to Kiva lenders. This means that you may see repayments made on this loan throughout the repayment term, as opposed to receiving repayment in full at the end of the loan term.
