Marcelino
View original language description ↓
Marcelino is 40 years old and lives with his wife and three children. He is a farmer dedicated to studying the land and to the cultivation of potato, corn and beans. After planting his crops he spends six anxious months awaiting the fruits of his labor. His farming generates earnings that allow him to support his family. He takes his products to the city of Huancayo to sell throughout the primary markets of that town. Marcelino is always vigilant of his farmland, making sure to keep tabs on any possible pest infestations or diseases that may harm his crops. While he waits for the planting season (six months), he dedicates himself to selling small electronics that he buys on his trips into the city to acquaintances. This activity, however, does not generate the desired income. Marcelino is motivated, day in and day out, by his desire to better provide for his family and by his wish for his children to complete their educations so that they can look forward to bright futures. He seeks a loan with which to buy products for planting his crops, such as sacks of fertilizer, to be able to improve his yield in the future. He also hopes to continue to grow his small appliance business.
