The seven members of the group Kotognogontala are married women who average 36 years of age and have five children each, living mostly in monogamous families at Ouayerma I, one of the popular districts of the city of Sikasso, the third administrative region of Mali. They are on their fifth loan with the microfinance institution Soro Yiriwaso to meet the needs of their customers.

Sira sells lettuce and onions in this group of women of Kotognogontala. She is sitting in the far left position in the photo. She plans to buy with the loan 28 baskets of lettuce and three 50-kg bags of onions which she'll resell from home to a clientele consisting mainly of women, paying in cash.

She plans to earn an average monthly income of 42,500 FCFA, part of which will be used to repay the loan with interest, and the rest will be savings.

Les sept membres du groupe KOTOGNOGONTALA sont des femmes mariées ayant une moyenne d’âge de 36 ans, 5 enfants et vivant la plupart dans des familles monogamiques à Ouayerma I un des quartiers populaires de la ville de Sikasso 3ème région administrative du Mali.
Elles sont à leur quinzième prêt avec l’institution de micro finance Soro Yiriwaso afin de satisfaire le besoin de leur clientèle.
Mme SIRA fait le commerce de laitue et d’ oignon dans ce groupe de femmes de KOTOGNOGONTALA. Elle est assise en première position de la droite vers la gauche sur la photo.
Elle compte acheter avec son prêt 28 paniers de laitue, 3 sacs de 50 kg d’oignon qu’elle revend en détail sur place en famille à une clientèle composée pour la majeur partie de femmes au comptant.
Elle envisage réaliser un bénéfice mensuel moyen de 42 500 francs CFA dont une partie est utilisée pour payer le prêt et son interêt et l’autre pour son épargne .

Soro Yiriwaso is a microfinance institution that works primarily in rural and semi-urban areas of Mali to provide underprivileged communities with access to financial services.The organization facilitates access for disadvantaged clients, particularly women, to new resources and services, fostering solidarity and cooperation among its clients. Kiva lenders’ funds will enable Soro Yiriwaso to expand its outreach and target even more underserved Malians involved in business and agriculture.
