Ram
Ram is 50 years old and works since his early years as an agricultural laborer. With the income he earns as a laborer, he hardly can take care of his family. He recently decided to do rice cultivation on his own and in his free time. His two brothers are supporting him in this new activity. Rice growing will enable him to pay for the education of his two children. He applied for a loan of SRD 10,000 to purchase fertilizers and pesticides.

More information about this loan

This loan is part of Seva's effort to reach marginalized rice farmers who are excluded from Suriname's traditional banking system. This type of loan is designed to help agricultural entrepreneurs become self sustainable. This is especially important in Suriname, where microfinance is limited. These loans provide farmers with the opportunity to thrive in a country where rural and agricultural businesses are considered to be too risky for commercial loans.
