Mrs. Thoeun H. is a 65 year old farmer, who lives with her husband and three children. She has been farming for about twenty years, and typically earns US$2.00 per day. Mrs. Thoeun has seven children, three of tH. are tailors, and they all live in Snam Pras Commune, Pursat Province.
Mrs. Thoeun consulted with her husband, and decided to seek a loan of US$600 to purchase two oxen and more fertilizer for her farming business. The loan will help to increase her income and sustain their daily lives.
Hattha Kaksekar Limited is one of the largest and most successful microfinance institutions (MFIs) in Cambodia. The organization provides microfinance services to the poor, particularly women, in urban and rural areas. Kiva lenders’ funds will be used to expand the outreach of HKL’s financial services to a greater number of clients in rural areas of Cambodia.
