Maria Luz is managing her own rice farm to earn a living. She has been doing this for more than twelve years, generating her own income in addition to her husband's.
Maria Luz joined GDMPC recently and borrowed a loan to cover the costs of plowing and fertilization. She hopes to earn an abundant harvest this cropping season and to be able to save a portion of her generated revenue for the education of her only child.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
