Milenka is single and has no children. She lives in her father's home, which has only one room and has brick walls. The home is located in the village of Palomar in the city of La Paz.
She currently works full time in agriculture. She finished high school and has not gone on to university yet. Despite her young age she knows a great deal about agriculture and livestock. She has to help her father with the finances because they live alone together. She has to cover their food costs and basic bills. For this reason, she is requesting this loan. She wants to buy improved seed in order to facilitate production. This will save her a lot of time because the crops will not need as much water. The production will be more clean and will not damage the environment.
This is the first time that she is requesting a loan from IMPRO and Kiva.

IMPRO is a small non-profit organization that has been offering micro credit to the working poor in the Bolivian cities of La Paz and El Alto since 1995. IMPRO’s goal is to fight poverty by offering loans to small business owners who cannot access credit through the regular banking system due to a lack of guarantees or collateral.

To ensure that everyone has access to credit, IMPRO maintains a low interest rate by minimizing operational costs. IMPRO’s partnership with Kiva, which began in 2007, has allowed IMPRO to expand its services while maintaining these low interest rates.
