Juan
Juan is married and has 3 children; all of whom are independent. He lives in his own 3-bedroom house which has earthen floors, in the Palomar neighbourhood in La Paz. He currently works in agriculture and raising livestock, working more than 10 hours a day, since it is the only source of income he has to cover food and basic services for his family.

Juan needs a loan to buy better seed, since it will help to reduce the production time, and result in better quality produce. Also, it does not require much watering, which will help him save water and improve the natural environment. In the remaining time, Juan also raises calves.

Juan's dream is to increase his production and also his livestock so he can increase his income and his quality of life. He wants to save for his old age and he wants to increase his earnings for the future as it is his only source of income.

This is the second time Juan has taken a loan with IMPRO and the first with Kiva.

About IMPRO

IMPRO is a small non-profit organization that has been offering micro credit to the working poor in the Bolivian cities of La Paz and El Alto since 1995. IMPRO’s goal is to fight poverty by offering loans to small business owners who cannot access credit through the regular banking system due to a lack of guarantees or collateral.

To ensure that everyone has access to credit, IMPRO maintains a low interest rate by minimizing operational costs. IMPRO’s partnership with Kiva, which began in 2007, has allowed IMPRO to expand its services while maintaining these low interest rates.
