Taneisha, a single mother of three children, has always dreamed of owning her own adult care facility. For fourteen years, she has worked in adult care homes, in addition to caring for her disabled child and uncle. Now, she looks to open her own adult care facility and utilize her experience and education.

Taneisha has been preparing herself for years. She obtained her Certified Nurse’s Assistant certification (CNA), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification, and several other periodic certifications, such as CPR certification and her Direct Support Professional (DSP) certification, to prepare to manage her own adult care facility.

Taneisha never gave up on her dream. She has spent countless hours working on her business plan, attending training sessions and gathering information on how to properly operate an adult care facility. Taneisha was so passionate about her dream, she went out and rented a facility with the hope of obtaining financing to equip the facility with the proper furniture needed to operate.

Taneisha will create two jobs with this project, one manager position and one assistant manager position. Her goals are to earn Vendor status, which allows her to have the maximum number of clients in her facility (4), and later, open a second location. A traditional bank would not consider doing this loan because it is a start-up. However, Fresno CDFI is stepping up to help Taneisha achieve her dream.
