Dava makes woven kilim rugs and decorative pillows, as well as area rugs from old and worn-out clothes. She does all of this using a primitive type of wooden equipment, as you can see in the picture, which was widely used during the communist era. Dava is from the northern part of Albania, where all the above items are used in every home - it’s the northern tradition. While other women who practiced such activities quit under the new regime, Dava has continued throughout these past 20 something years of democracy and she is happy with her decision because the demand for such items is high now, though mostly from foreign visitors. The items she makes are sold at unique gift stores countrywide.

Dava is 49 and has seven children. She wants to build a little place where she can do her work.
