At 49 years old, Fredy is the father of one child and is in a civil union with his partner. Throughout his adult life he has worked in construction. He also wants to buy wholesale stock like dairy and meat products, cleaning products, cookies, grains, pasta, oil, sugar, rice, and brown sugar, among other basic products. This will allow him to start this project that he hopes will make the income necessary to cover his family's necessities. Fredy believes that although he does not have experience running this type of business, he is really motivated because he sees a great source of income in this. Durante su vida productiva se ha dedicado a trabajar en el campo de la construcción, pero, con el ánimo de generar mejores ingresos para su familia, desea iniciar su propio negocio, para ello quiere aprovechar la oportunidad que se le presentó de adquirir un espacio donde se encontraba ubicada una tienda muy reconocida del sector y quiere iniciar allí su propia tienda de abarrotes; por esta razón solicita el apoyo del crédito, para comprar activos fijos (estanterías y enfriador) y surtido al por mayor (lácteos, cárnicos, productos de aseo, galletería, granos, pastas, aceite, azúcar, arroz, panela, entre otros productos de la canasta familiar), de esta manera podrá dar inicio a su proyecto productivo, con el que espera generar los ingresos necesarios para satisfacer las necesidades de su familia. Fredy manifiesta que aún sin tener conocimiento en el manejo de este tipo de negocios, está muy motivado porque ve en él una gran fuente de ingresos y por ello quiere luchar para sacar su proyecto adelante, logrando una rentabilidad y estabilidad económica para dar a su familia un mejor bienestar y condiciones de vida.

This loan is designed for an entrepreneur who needs working capital to start a brand new business. Along with the loan, Kiva's field partner Interactuar provides counseling, training courses, and other financial resources to help new, riskier entrepreneurs set up young businesses.

Important Information

This loan is structured on Kiva as a bullet loan, which means a single payment is required at the end of the loan term. By Colombian law, Kiva's partner Interactuar is required to offer borrowers loans with a variable interest rate that fluctuates with the market rate. Because fixed monthly payments are applied first to interest and then to principal, Interactuar is unable to predict upfront what portion of each repayment would go towards the loan principal. This creates a challenge with Kiva's system, which doesn't allow for unpredictable principal payments, and can result in some Interactuar clients appearing falsely delinquent. To remedy this, the loan has an end-of-term repayment plan on Kiva, but the borrower will continue scheduled monthly repayments to Interactuar, who will then pass along the principal amount to Kiva lenders. This means that you may see repayments made on this loan throughout the repayment term, as opposed to receiving repayment in full at the end of the loan term.
