Jesús Alfonso
Jesús, at the age of 26, works as a practicioner of accounting in a consulting business located in the town where he lives. But, in the spirit of generating income on his own account, he wants to begin a productive project, a fast food business, since he has knowledge about the management of this type of business because he had the opportunity to work in this field at the age of 18. His entrepreneurial spirit, his enthusiasm, and his will to achieve and progress drive him to apply for the loan, with which he wants to buy a fast-food cart, cooking utensils, and wholesale stock (breads, salsas, cold meats, cheeses, and soft drinks, among other items). Thus he will be able to start up his business idea, with which he hopes to generate the necessary income to assist his family with the economic burden of the household. Furthermore, he has the advantage of having knowledge in accounting, which will allow him to better track his income and expenditures in order to make this business a source of income that in time is profitable and sustainable. Jesús shows his eagerness to start his project, since he wants to get a reputation and become known in the district and in the future be able to set up his business in a well-located commercial location with a greater flow of people, generating greater income to offer his family a better quality of life and well-being.

More information about this loan

By supporting this loan, you're helping a borrower launch a new business!

This loan is designed for an entrepreneur who needs working capital to start a brand new business. Along with the loan, Kiva's field partner Interactuar provides counseling, training courses, and other financial resources to help new, riskier entrepreneurs set up young businesses.

Important Information

This loan is structured on Kiva as a bullet loan, which means a single payment is required at the end of the loan term. By Colombian law, Kiva's partner Interactuar is required to offer borrowers loans with a variable interest rate that fluctuates with the market rate. Because fixed monthly payments are applied first to interest and then to principal, Interactuar is unable to predict upfront what portion of each repayment would go towards the loan principal. This creates a challenge with Kiva's system, which doesn't allow for unpredictable principal payments, and can result in some Interactuar clients appearing falsely delinquent. To remedy this, the loan has an end-of-term repayment plan on Kiva, but the borrower will continue scheduled monthly repayments to Interactuar, who will then pass along the principal amount to Kiva lenders. This means that you may see repayments made on this loan throughout the repayment term, as opposed to receiving repayment in full at the end of the loan term.
