Jonnathan Andrés
Jonnathan, 26, is married with no children yet. He’s worked since the age of 13 for he was born into a very humble family. He’s worked in construction, selling lottery tickets in the street and merchandise door-to -door along various streets in the city. As he grew, he got the opportunity of entering university and to increase his income he taught mathematics and physics classes.

Thanks to his drive, perseverance, effort and dedication he was able to become an independent merchant and with his wife opened their own clothing store (see photo alongside his wife). He works there every day from 9am until 9pm and generates income this way sufficient to provide sustenance at home and cover some basic needs.

He’s currently asking for a loan to buy merchandise like jeans, blouses and t-shirts at wholesale to stock up for the Christmas season which is when sales increase and his profit margin is larger. He’ll also be able to meet customer needs and satisfy their wants.

Jonnathan states that he’d like to continue working with much effort and dedication to reach his dream of enlarging his store and positioning it in the marketplace in such a way that it becomes more profitable and sustainable over time to ensure economic stability so he and his wife can enjoy better quality of life.

Jonnathan, a sus 26 años de edad, es casado y aún no tiene hijos. Desde los 13 años de edad está trabajando, pues nació en una familia muy humilde, ha trabajado en construcción, vendiendo loterías en la calle y mercancía puerta a puerta por las diferentes calles de la ciudad; a medida que fue creciendo tuvo la oportunidad de ingresar a la universidad y, para aumentar sus ingresos, dictaba clases de matemáticas y física. Gracias a su empuje, perseverancia, empeño y dedicación pudo convertirse en un comerciante independiente y en compañía de su esposa montaron su propio almacén de ropa (ver foto junto a su esposa), allí trabaja todos los días de 9:00 am a 9:00 pm y, de esta manera genera los ingresos suficientes para llevar el sustento a su hogar y suplir algunas necesidades básicas. Actualmente solicita el apoyo del crédito para comprar mercancía al por mayor (jeans, blusas, camisetas), así podrá abastecerse para la temporada de navidad, en la que sus ventas se incrementan y obtiene un margen de ganancia más alto, además podrá satisfacer los gustos y necesidades de sus clientes. Jonnathan manifiesta que desea seguir trabajando con mucho empeño y dedicación para poder cumplir el sueño de ampliar su almacén, posicionarlo en el mercado y lograr que sea más rentable y sostenible en el tiempo, que le garantice una estabilidad económica para poder disfrutar con su esposa de una mejor calidad de vida.

This loan is structured on Kiva as a bullet loan, which means a single payment is required at the end of the loan term. By Colombian law, Kiva's partner Interactuar is required to offer borrowers loans with a variable interest rate that fluctuates with the market rate. Because fixed monthly payments are applied first to interest and then to principal, Interactuar is unable to predict upfront what portion of each repayment would go towards the loan principal. This creates a challenge with Kiva's system, which doesn't allow for unpredictable principal payments, and can result in some Interactuar clients appearing falsely delinquent. To remedy this, the loan has an end-of-term repayment plan on Kiva, but the borrower will continue scheduled monthly repayments to Interactuar, who will then pass along the principal amount to Kiva lenders. This means that you may see repayments made on this loan throughout the repayment term, as opposed to receiving repayment in full at the end of the loan term.
