Denis is the co-ordinator of the "Union de Senzidor" Group. He lives in the north of Haïti where electricity supplies are rare and water supplies are very limited. He has operated a sales business for the past 5 years, and has 2 children. Before working in sales, he was a teacher. He will use his loan to buy cosmetics, clothes and shoes for resale. Denis hopes that this loan will help him to increase the size of his business.
The other members of the "Union de Senzidor" Group will use their loans to help with their food, cosmetics and charcoal businesses.
Denis says that his biggest challenge is finding loyal customers, and selling on credit makes it difficult to run his business. His dream is to work with the field partner Esperanza to develop a larger business.

More information about this loan
This loan is designed for a borrower or group of borrowers in Haiti. Esperanza is one of the few MFIs currently working in the northeast region of the country. Through lending, the organization aims to stimulate economic growth and opportunity in a country that has suffered debilitating crises, including political instability, natural disasters and poverty. Esperanza lends primarily to groups of women who cross-guarantee each other's loans. They also receive financial literacy courses and health services.
This is a Group Loan
In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.
Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
