Alice is a first time borrower client of UGAFODE Microfinance Ltd. She is applying for a loan of 2,000,000UGX. She is married with three children. She resides and does business in the trading centre which is outside Kampala city, neighbouring Kasubi tombs, where she runs an internet café and small salon for ladies in the same building. This has enabled her to get income to look after her children by providing school fees and other necessities.
Alice, who says her café and salon businesses are doing fairly well in terms of sales, goes on to say that she is the only person with an internet café business in the whole trading centre. She is thus assured of daily customers but is let down by inadequate capital to buy more computers and a high power bill. Because of these factors she is applying for a loan to buy new ad efficient computers which will improve her service to customers. Furthermore she says she has plans to educate her children, pay off her loan well, and maintain good relations with her financial institution and the Kiva lenders who are supporting her.
