Tonin
Tonin is 43 years old and a married mother blessed with four children who are in school. For the sake of her kids, she makes a living via running a small grocery shop at home and provides photocopy service in the area. To assist her in earning a proper income, her husband drives a "tricycle" motorbike for a fee. She has just been involved in her current business for two years.

Tonin, who has been with VisionFund (Kiva’s partner) for two cycles including this loan, has fully repaid her past loan and the positive impact of this loan has supported her business in a timely manner and kept her kids in school. Now, she wants to support her daughter who wants to hold a Bachelor's degree, majoring in International Relations. Thus, she is applying for this education loan from VisionFund to cover the school fees for her daughter. She hopes that her daughter can get a good job after graduation.

VisionFund Cambodia has designed a lower-interest rate loan product for students, given the financial benefits associated with financing this loan upfront on Kiva. It is disbursed to the borrower in annual installments.

About VisionFund Cambodia

VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.

Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
