Phorng is 60 years old and a married mother of one child, residing in the Bovel district of Battambang province.
To struggle for a living, Phorng does rice and maize farming as the main sources of income. She has been involved in the current business for ten years.
Including this loan, Phorng is a second-time borrower with VisionFund Cambodia (Kiva’s partner). She has succeeded in completely repaying the past loan and this loan has improved her lifestyle, better than before.
Now, Phorng is seeking a new loan of KHR 4,000,000 in order to buy fertilizer and insecticide for her crops. She strongly believes that she can gain a good yield from her crops, so that she can double her income, better than before.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
