Maria Valentina
María Valentina, 23, is a very hard working young married woman mother of two minor children. She completed primary school thanks to her parents' moral and financial support despite the limitations and lacks they had.

María Valentina has been working in agriculture alongside her husband four years specifically growing potatoes. They own land that her husband’s parents passed down to them. She and her husband walk 20 minutes daily to reach their land where together they strive to care for and weed the crop in order to obtain excellent yields.

This is why she needs at present to request financing to buy agricultural supplies like manure, fungicide, urea and others to provide technical assistance to her potato crop.

She dreams in future to be able to buy more land to grow larger amounts of potatoes and generate higher income that will allow her to provide better education for her children and to increase their estate.

More information about this loan

These loans are designed for female farmers who produce a variety of products (onion, garlic, eggplant, spinach, mango, strawberries, etc.). Loan terms will vary depending on need, and borrowers can choose to make a "bullet" payment timed with harvest profits. Agricultural loans are considered risky in Honduras due to external forces like unpredictable weather and worldwide crop prices. As a result, many traditional financial institutions are unwilling to offer these loans. With Kiva funding, COMIXMUL will be able to reach more borrowers with agricultural loans tailored to their needs.
