Sokhoeurb is a mother of six children and is in her 60s. She is a resident from the Bovel district of the Battambang province. Nowadays, she deals with the daily cost of her living via rice farming and an orange plantation with which she has engaged for several years. Having been with VisionFund (Kiva’s partner) at least five cycles, Sokhoeurb has utilized her past loans wisely to maintain her business as well as her lifestyle. For this cycle, she applies for a new loan of 2,000,000 KHR in order to buy fertilizer and to pay for weeding and plowing fees for her crop. She does believe that she keeps improving her lifestyle.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
