Ginette has not attended school. She no longer lives with her husband, and is the mother of three children. All children attend (or have attended) school and two of them remain under her care. Ginette lives with her children.

With the money generated by her activity, Ginette is able to feed her family. For over ten years Ginette has been running a business selling plastic items and plastic bags in her area. As an additional activity she also sells fruit.

Ginette buys her products in one of Benin's cities. To bolster her business, she joins the other members of the Gbenonkpo group in seeking a third loan from ALIDé.

GBENONKPO est un groupe composé de trois personnes qui vivent dans le même quartier. La représente du groupe, nommée Ginette (celle qui a la main levée sur la photo) est âgée de 30 ans. Ginette n’a pas fréquenté l’école. Ginette ne vit plus avec son mari, mais est mère de trois enfants. Tous les enfants sont scolarisés et deux restent à sa charge. Ginette vit avec ses enfants. Grâce aux revenus que lui génère son activité, Ginette arrive à nourrir sa famille. Depuis une dizaine d'année, Ginette mène comme activité la vente de plastiques et de sachets dans sa région. De façon secondaire, Ginette vend des fruits. Ginette achète ses produits dans une ville du Bénin. Dans le but de renforcer son activité, Ginette s’associe aux autres membres du groupe GBENONKPO pour solliciter un troisième crédit auprès de ALIDé.

About Alidé

Alidé is a Beninese NGO that works to reduce poverty by offering sustainable access to productive loans like this one in addition to savings, training sessions, and social work to low-income families.

Supporters of this loan should be aware that there is some risk of being repaid late. Because the Beninois Ministry of Finance has imposed restrictions on the amount of money Alidé can send to Kiva, the organization can only send monthly repayments in installments smaller than $13,000. This means that some Kiva lenders may receive their repayments late. However, Alidé remains a healthy institution in good standing with its creditors, and Kiva would like to continue working to support its clients.
