Khoeurn is 50 years old and married. She is blessed with three children, one of whom is still in school. For her family, three hectares of paddy rice farming is the core income generating activity, which she has been involved in for 20 years.

This is not the first loan for Khoeurn with VisionFund (Kiva’s partner). The past loan has enabled her to improve her living condition better than before and keep her kid in school.

For this cycle, she applied for a new loan to pay for her daughter’s school fees. She hopes that her daughter can fulfill her dream of holding a bachelor's degree majoring in Accounting, and get a good job after she graduates.

More information about this loan

This loan is part of VisionFund Cambodia’s higher education program, designed to provide financing to students in poor households who otherwise lack the financial support to continue their studies. Very few students have the financial resources necessary to go to college. VisionFund Cambodia has designed a lower-interest rate loan product for students, given the financial benefits associated with financing this loan upfront on Kiva. It is disbursed to the borrower in annual installments.

About VisionFund Cambodia

VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.

Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
