Residing in the Ratanak Mondul district of Battambang province, Heang is 56 years old and married. She has four children, two of whom still count on her and are still in school. She has struggled to make a living through growing cassava and corn for five years and she is able to earn up to 26 U.S. dollars per day. However, she is able to save only six USD dollar per day after deducting all related expenses.

Heang has been with Kiva's partner, VisionFund, for five cycles. Now, she is applying as a sixth-time borrower with VisionFund asking for an education loan to pay for the school fees of her daughter for the four years. She hopes that the loan will enable her to keep her daughter in university to pursue the degree so as to find a good job after graduation and also help her to relieve her financial burden and her worry in the future in supporting her children’s education.

It is disbursed to the borrower in annual installments.

About VisionFund Cambodia

VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.

Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
