Update on Neyda MonserrateThe "Eloy Alfaro" communal bank meets every two weeks in the Montecristi area which is known for its rich, precolonial culture and its artisan crafts that are famous both nationally and internationally. It is from here that straw hats originate.
And it is here that Neyda lives. She is 35 years old, married and has three children - aged fourteen, eight, and two years old each. The two eldest children are in school. Neyda's husband is a construction worker.
In order to earn a little on her own and to cover the costs of her children's education, Neyda started her own little business ten years ago.
She runs it out of her home and as the days have gone by and with the help of loans, the business has improved. Neyda's business is an ice cream shop.
She sells a very well-known, national brand of ice cream, in addition to fizzy drinks, water, juices, energy drinks and other beverages.
She makes most of her sales on the weekend as many people in the area meet up at some courts in front of her house to play sports.
She is asking for another loan as this is how she has always financed her business. Her profits served her for certain medical expenses since one of her children was sick. Part of her profits went to this emergency and the rest was invested back in the business.
This loan is to buy ice cream, fizzy drinks, water and other products to sell.
She has been with the communal bank since the beginning and likes it because the loans help her to keep on improving her business. Her dream is to give her children the best she possibly can.

Concurrent and Successive Loans
Our Field Partners often work with borrowers over a series of loans as the borrowers build credit, take out bigger loans, and expand their businesses. In order to make it easier for our Field Partners to post loans for borrowers who have been listed on Kiva before, we allow them to post successive and concurrent loans for their Kiva borrowers. This means that our Field Partners are able to post a borrower's second, third, etc., loan on Kiva without having to re-enter all of the borrower's information.
This borrower has been listed on Kiva before, so you'll see an updated loan description, as well as excerpts of the original descriptions from earlier loans. Most borrowers take out loans consecutively, meaning that they receive a second loan after having repaid the first. However, sometimes our Field Partners give out concurrent loans, allowing borrowers to take out one primary loan and a secondary "add-on" loan along with it. These "add-on" loans are typically smaller than the borrower's primary loan and serve a different purpose. Because Field Partners can now post loans as successive and concurrent loans, you will be able to track borrower progress over time and see the various ways a borrower is working with our Field Partners through funds from Kiva’s lenders.
Loan tags help lenders find loans that match certain areas of interest. You can add up to 5 tags for this loan.
