A loan of $1,600 helped buy 3 heifers.

José Concepción's story

José is 56 years old, is married, and has 3 children. When he was young, his father abandoned him, leaving his mother to work in the fields in order to support her family. She wasn't ever able to send him to school. For this reason, he doesn't know how to read or write. When he was very young, he learned how to farm and raise cows. Every year, he plants 14,000 square meters of corn and he also has many cows. In addition, he works as a security guard at a ranch.

To buy his cows, José has to ask permission to leave work and go to the market where he selects the best quality cows. To do so, he gets on a truck in his town and drives 45 minutes to get there. Once there, he buys the cows he wants, loads them in the truck, and returns home.

José is asking for $1,600 to buy 3 heifers close to giving birth so he can obtain milk to feed his family and also sell to his neighbors. If he can buy these heifers, José will be able to have some extra income and in this way meet the needs of his family.

José's life will be improved by this loan because it will increase the number of cows that he has and allow him to obtain milk to increase his income and the quality of life of his family.

José hopes to have 5 milk cows.
