Rafi is a 48-year-old Lebanese married man. He has worked as a car mechanic for the past 35 years. He started to work in this type of business at a very young age as he was obliged to cooperate with his parents financially, seeing the really bad situation that the family has passed though.
And today, Rafi is a talented mechanic and responsible for a family composed of his wife and three children, who are attending school.
With the loan he requested from Kiva partner Vitas s.a.l, Rafi will purchase specific machinery that will remarkably ease his repair operations. It will allow him to identify damage quickly, and then he will better serve his customers.
In the future, Rafi intends to trade in spare auto parts and expand his business into other areas.
Due to political and social challenges in Lebanon, personally identifiable attributes entrepreneurs may have been altered to protect their privacy (i.e., blurring portions of the borrower's picture, not indicating a name and location, etc.). Vitas appreciates Kiva lenders' understanding of these challenges and encourages them to continue their support for Lebanon's borrowers.
