Farzana Group
In this Group: Farzana, Shazia, Riffat
Farzana is 36 years old, a hard-working and independent woman. She is living in Rawalpindi, Pakistan. Her husband has gone abroad for the purpose of his job as an argon welder and his income is not enough to meet the household expenses.

For 15 years, Farzana has been running a beauty salon, and she wants to purchase some more cosmetic products and chairs for her beauty salon. For that reason, Farzana is a member of an three-person lending group that has requested a loan from Kiva partner BRAC Pakistan.

On getting a profit, first of all she will repay the loan amount to Kiva and than she wants to build a new room in the salon, as the space in the salon is very congested. She hopes that her business will grow even more and she is very much thankful to both BRAC and Kiva.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
