Julio is divorced and has a daughter in school age. He works taking care of a farm, where he lives in a room. The house is located in the village of Palomar, La Paz department.

He takes care of the farm during the daytime and during the weekends, he grows flowers. He is requesting a loan to buy improved chard and corn seeds. These plants are easy to take care of, and require little water and less time to grow. By saving water it is possible to help taking care of the environment.

Julio’s dream is to acquire a larger piece of agricultural land and increase his income so that he can support his daughter with her studies. At the moment, he has to cover his family’s food, education and utilities expenses with a small income.

About IMPRO

IMPRO is a small non-profit organization that has been offering micro credit to the working poor in the Bolivian cities of La Paz and El Alto since 1995. IMPRO’s goal is to fight poverty by offering loans to small business owners who cannot access credit through the regular banking system due to a lack of guarantees or collateral.

To ensure that everyone has access to credit, IMPRO maintains a low interest rate by minimizing operational costs. IMPRO’s partnership with Kiva, which began in 2007, has allowed IMPRO to expand its services while maintaining these low interest rates.
