A loan of $1,200 helped to purchase more stationery items to sell.

Rebecca's story

Rebecca is 32 years old and lives in the town of Bulenga in the Kampala West region of Uganda. She is single and has one child. For the past five years, Rebecca has been working hard to manage her stationery shop, which sells exercise books and pens, and does printing and photocopying.

To help expand her business, Rebecca has requested a loan of 3,000,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to purchase more stationery items to sell, and will help Rebecca to generate greater profits and take care of her child and herself. Rebecca hopes that in the future she will be able to be a lead provider of all essential stationery items in town.

Rebecca is a member of BRAC's Small Enterprise Program (SEP). The program primarily serves small entrepreneurs like Rebecca who do not have enough collateral for commercial loans, but have businesses that have grown too large for microloans.
