Alicia
Alicia is married and has four children, two of whom are independent and two live with her. They live in their own three-room house in Palomar in the city of La Paz. Every day she farms and raises cattle to support her family. Her husband works in the city, and her income has to pay for the family's food, education, and basic services.

She needs a loan to buy improved vegetable seed, which will be a great help because it requires little irrigation, grows fast and cleanly, and also conserves the soil. Alicia dreams of increasing production and income, which will improve her standard of living. This is her first loan cycle with IMPRO and Kiva.

About IMPRO

IMPRO is a small non-profit organization that has been offering micro credit to the working poor in the Bolivian cities of La Paz and El Alto since 1995. IMPRO’s goal is to fight poverty by offering loans to small business owners who cannot access credit through the regular banking system due to a lack of guarantees or collateral.

To ensure that everyone has access to credit, IMPRO maintains a low interest rate by minimizing operational costs. IMPRO’s partnership with Kiva, which began in 2007, has allowed IMPRO to expand its services while maintaining these low interest rates.
