Sawsan, a 53-year-old woman from Lebanon, lives with her husband and four children, some of whom still attend school. Her husband has worked in the construction field for the past 25 years, while Sawsan has been selling detergents and creams for the past seven years. The couple works cooperatively to earn an adequate income that allows them and the children to live in good conditions.
With her loan request from Kiva partner Vitas s.a.l, Sawsan seeks to purchase more detergents and creams to sell in order to increase her sales and income. In the future, she hopes to become the owner of a proper shop where she can better display her products.
Due to political and social challenges in Lebanon, personally identifiable attributes entrepreneurs may have been altered to protect their privacy (i.e., blurring portions of the borrower's picture, not indicating a name and location, etc.). Vitas appreciates Kiva lenders' understanding of these challenges and encourages them to continue their support for Lebanon's borrowers.
