Daissy
Daissy, age 31, is the single mother of her nine year old daughter. During her productive life she has worked in the field of sewing. She started as a worker in different shops seasonally. With some savings she decided to become independent and set up her own shop.

She was later a victim of a flood that occurred in the area. Her house was flooded and she lost various materials, most importantly her machinery. Also, her daughter has various injuries and traumas. Therefore, her family entered into a financial crisis.

Daissy, with her drive, perseverance, and the objective of once again getting ahead, knew how to overcome all of these obstacles. With the little that she was able to recover, she continued with her work. She is working every day, and she gets help from her mother, who collaborates on the finishing of the products.

She wishes to have the loan she is requesting to buy supplies wholesale (fabric, thread, elastic, and patterns) and to perform maintenance on her machines. With this she will have the capacity to increase her production and her sales. This will generate better income with which she hopes to be able to get ahead. Daissy a sus 31 años de edad, es madre soltera de una hija de 9 años. Durante su vida productiva se ha dedicado a trabajar en el campo de la confección, inició como operaria en diferentes talleres por temporadas y, con algunos ahorros decidió independizarse y montar su propio taller, luego de un tiempo fue víctima de una ola invernal que se presentó en la región, su vivienda se inundó y ocasionó varias pérdidas materiales, especialmente de su maquinaria, además su hija tuvo varias lesiones y traumas, por lo que su familia entró en una crisis económica. La cliente con su empuje, perseverancia y con el objetivo de salir nuevamente adelante, supo sobrepasar todos estos obstáculos y, con lo poco que pudo recuperar continuó con su labor, trabajando todos los días y recibe el apoyo de su mamá quien le colabora con la terminación de los productos. El crédito que solicita lo desea invertir en la compra de insumos al por mayor (telas, hilos, resortes y moldes) y para realizar el mantenimiento de sus máquinas. Con esto tendrá la capacidad de aumentar su producción y sus ventas, lo que le generará mejores ingresos, con los que espera poder salir adelante. This loan is structured on Kiva as a bullet loan, which means a single payment is required at the end of the loan term. By Colombian law, Kiva's partner Interactuar is required to offer borrowers loans with a variable interest rate that fluctuates with the market rate. Because fixed monthly payments are applied first to interest and then to principal, Interactuar is unable to predict upfront what portion of each repayment would go towards the loan principal. This creates a challenge with Kiva's system, which doesn't allow for unpredictable principal payments, and can result in some Interactuar clients appearing falsely delinquent. To remedy this, the loan has an end-of-term repayment plan on Kiva, but the borrower will continue scheduled monthly repayments to Interactuar, who will then pass along the principal amount to Kiva lenders. This means that you may see repayments made on this loan throughout the repayment term, as opposed to receiving repayment in full at the end of the loan term.
