Massaran was born in January 1976 in Kangare, which is in the 3rd largest administrative region in Mali. She lives there in a monogamous relationship with her husband, with whom she has one child.

Massaran didn’t have the opportunity to go to school. She quickly became interested in moneymaking businesses, particularly buying and selling incense, pagne [a traditional cloth], damask and beauty products. This will be Massaran’s fifth loan through Soro Yiriwaso, after having repaid her previous loans on schedule. She will use the funds to buy large quantities of incense and beauty products, as well as 30 lengths of damask from the wholesalers in Bamako. She sells her products to male and female customers for cash or on credit from her retail store in Kangare.

Massaran hopes to make 100,000 Francs CFA a month, which she will use to help her husband meet the needs of their family, to repay her loan and to invest in her business.
