Thim is 36 years old, married, and has given birth to three children with her husband. To make a living, she has been involved in farming. It is the major source of her family’s income. It is a traditional business. She has learned from older people, and it is the one core career she has been doing with her lovely husband. They are able to make a suitable income of 10,000 KHR to support their family.
In order to continue developing her business, she has turned to HKL for another loan opportunity. Thim completed two loan cycles prior to this loan. She has requested a loan in the amount of 1,200,000 KHR to purchase fertilizer and insecticides to apply to her cassava and rice crops. She plans to invest the income from the loan to create her own small business from her home to earn additional income. Thim also wants to build a fence around her house.
Hattha Kaksekar Limited is one of the largest and most successful microfinance institutions (MFIs) in Cambodia. The organization provides microfinance services to the poor, particularly women, in urban and rural areas. Kiva lenders’ funds will be used to expand the outreach of HKL’s financial services to a greater number of clients in rural areas of Cambodia.
