Bunna, 31, is married and blessed with four children who are still in school. She strives to make a living from rice and cassava farming. To supplement the family’s income, her husband runs a small motorbike repair store in the area. Bunna has been involved in her current business for 11 years. This is the third loan for Bunna with VisionFund (Kiva’s partner). She has succeeded in repaying her past loans and they have enabled her to support her business better than before. For this loan cycle, she is seeking 1,500,000 KHR in order to pay for weeding fees and to buy necessary materials to support her husband’s business. She hopes that she can gain a good income from her crop so she can keep her kids in school until tertiary level.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
