Sokhon is a young mother with one small child. She lives in the Bovel district of the Battambang province. To support her living, she does rice farming as the main source of income. She has been involved in this business for four years.
This is a first-time loan for Sokhon with VisionFund (Kiva’s partner). Sokhon is seeking 3,000,000 KHR in order to buy insecticide and fertilizer and to pay a plowing fee. She hopes that this loan will help her to support her agribusiness promptly so she can earn a decent income to provide decent food for her family every day.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
