Zeina is a 52-year-old Lebanese widow who lives with her five children, some of whom are still attending school. After her husband’s death, Zeina became the only one responsible for her family. This is why she she has worked diligently at producing food for the past 13 years. Her products are sold to her community and people really enjoy her tasty and delicious provisions.
Today, Zeina is requesting a loan from Kiva partner Vitas s.a.l to purchase a used car for her business. She says that the car will definitely ease her operations, especially when purchasing foodstuffs to continue her production. She is also planning to start visiting grocery stores, supermarkets, etc. to sell them her food to make a good income and improve her family’s standard of living.
Due to political and social challenges in Lebanon, personally identifiable attributes entrepreneurs may have been altered to protect their privacy (i.e., blurring portions of the borrower's picture, not indicating a name and location, etc.). Vitas appreciates Kiva lenders' understanding of these challenges and encourages them to continue their support for Lebanon's borrowers.
