Geraldine earns a living by selling Hopia. She is 32 years old, married and lives Disud, Sindangan, Zamboanga Del Norte. She bakes Hopia and sells it at different places in town. This business is self-sustainable and has become profitable, with a net profit of about PHP 5,000 per month.
Geraldine is seeking a PHP 5,000 loan. She would like to use the loan to purchase other products aside from the ingredients for Hopia. This is a microfinance loan, and will be repaid in a short period of time. This is her first loan with the cooperative. Geraldine is very diligent and loves accuracy which only adds to the effective management of her venture.
About Paglaum Multi-Purpose Cooperative
Paglaum Multi-Purpose Cooperative (PMPC) was founded in 1992 by the beneficiaries, parents and staff of the Paglaum Community Development Foundation to address economic and livelihood activities for sustainability. The organization operates in the northwestern provinces of Mindanao and Visayas.
In the local vernacular, “paglaum” means “hope.” The initial foundation is dedicated to child development through a holistic approach. The goal is to build self-reliance and expand opportunity so the poorest of the poor can help themselves.
