Originally from a rural village of the Kandal province’s Kandal Stoeng district, Chandy is 41 years old and married with four children. She earns a living farming rice to feed and support her family members. To better support her family, her husband buys and sells cows in the village.
Having been in this business for five years, she is able to earn about KHR 60,000 per day, and manages to save about KHR 20,000 each day for future needs.
Chandy is a first cycle client with VisionFund. Now requesting a loan of KHR 4,000,000, she wants to use it to buy fertilizer for her farmland, and use a portion of it on labor.
She hopes to increase her rice yield to earn more income and improve her standard of living.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
