Ulfat is a 43-year-old hard-working woman. She lives in Pakistan with her husband, three sons, and two daughters. Her husband's income is insufficient to meet the family's needs, so Ulfat is trying to help him fill their needs by stitching clothing.

Since 2010 Ulfat has operated her tailoring business very efficiently, but she is currently in need of purchasing a new sewing machine, as her old machine is not working properly. To do that, she has requested a loan as a member of an eight-person group from KIVA partner BRAC Pakistan so she can continue her business. With the profits she will pay the household expenses, put aside some savings, pay utility bills and open a new mobile shop for her elder son. She is hopeful that the loan will be a productive one for them.
