Later he gave a her a piece of the land, located about three kilometers from her house, and every day she walks there. She sells her crop through intermediaries who come to the area, and she says her product is of good quality and is healthy.

Edita has applied to the COMIXMUL cooperative for a loan to buy fertilizer, manure, and pesticide to maintain and protect her coffee plants so that they produce a good harvest. She has plans to expand her plantings so that she can earn more income to pay for her children's education, food, and other needs as they grow up.

Edita es una mujer emprendedora de 32 años de edad, casada con un grado de educación de primaria incompleto cursado hasta el tercer grado por lo cual agradase a sus padres por el apoyo brindado. Junto a su pareja tienen 3 hijos los cuales están en diferentes grados de educación en la primaria y en familia se dedican a la agricultura en lo que es la siembra y cultivo de café. Fueron sus padres los que le enseñaron dicha actividad mientras trabajaban tierras ajenas por lo que ella agradece a DIOS por hoy en día hacerlo en las propias gracias a una herencia de su padre que con el tiempo de trabajo pudo ahorrar y comprar su propia tierra para después ser cultivada heredando a su hija un pedazo el cual está ubicado a 3 kilómetros de su casa de habitación al cual se trasladan a pie diariamente. Su producto es comercializado con los intermediarios que llegan a la zona y que le caracterizan su producto como un producto de calidad e higiénico.

Hoy en día Edita ha solicitado a la cooperativa COMIXMUL un financiamiento para poder comprar fertilizantes, abono, plaguicidas para sus cultivos de café y darles el mantenimiento y protección necesario para poder obtener una buena y provechosa cosecha.

Sus planes a futuro es tener una amplia plantación de café para de esa forma poder generar más ingresos que vendrán a ayudar para poder cubrir los estudios de sus hijos, sus alimentos entre otras necesidades que son necesarias atender para el desarrollo en la vida.

These loans are designed for female farmers who produce a variety of products (onion, garlic, eggplant, spinach, mango, strawberries, etc.). Loan terms will vary depending on need, and borrowers can choose to make a "bullet" payment timed with harvest profits. Agricultural loans are considered risky in Honduras due to external forces like unpredictable weather and worldwide crop prices. As a result, many traditional financial institutions are unwilling to offer these loans. With Kiva funding, COMIXMUL will be able to reach more borrowers with agricultural loans tailored to their needs.
